Nelson's Most Eco-Friendly Interior Painter
No VOCs, no harmful fumes, just a beautiful home
We take it for granted, that new paint smell. It smells fresh and clean—the end of decorating project and the start of a fresh new look for your home. But that smell is toxic. It’s a sign of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including acetone, xylene, toluene, benzene and formaldehyde. It’s toxic and it’s fully avoidable.
What about warranties?
Our interior paints have a 25 year range warranty. We have no hesitation in guaranteeing the quality of the paints, and when applied correctly, the beautiful finish in your home should last for many years.
What are VOCs and what harm can they cause?
Volatile organic compounds are gases released from paint, from a range of commonly used toxic chemicals in interior house paint. These chemicals include toluene, xylene, ethyl acetate, formaldehyde, methylene chloride and glycol. While the bulk of the harm is caused while the paint dries, the first few weeks afterwards, and when the paint is removed/ sanded back, we just don’t know the long term effects.
The VOCs in fresh paint can cause eye irritation, an itchy throat, dizziness, headaches, fatigue and problems breathing. For some people, the problems can persist for weeks after application. For people exposed to VOCs regularly, like painters, there is evidence to suggest serious long-term health problems with the liver, kidneys and nervous system.
Studies done suggest that using green building materials can reduce harmful impacts on human health by more than 50%. Our eco-positive paints are one step in the right direction.
